Justmeans 1.0 Launch:
Justmeans.com beta was previously built on Microsoft .NET Platform with the Team of Six developers by some other Programming Company. Martin was facing lots of issues with performance & Scalability of the site and the Communication with the development team.
Meanwhile, we were developing Facebook and other applications for JustMeans.
One day in December 2007 he said to Nikhil "I am coming to India in Jan '08 and I want to redevelop JustMeans in three months in Opensource, can you do that?"
Martin moved to India in January and transferred the domain knowledge and the Business logic to Nikhil and Vikrant.
Taking on significant risk,Nikhil and Vikrant both began working full time on Justmeans. The initial Pune office housed Nikhil, Vikrant, Martin, and two young programmers, Onkar and Sagar.
Over the next three months, Justmeans was rebuilt with a completely scalable database structure with only 3 Programmers using our home-grown Object Oriented Framework.
The Growth
Having gone through the painful lesson of database scalability in 2007, 2008's lesson was interaction design. While the platform continued to grow, it was quickly apparent that the story and design layer of Justmeans needed significant tweaking. It also became apparent that managing design in one country vs. programming in another was not scalable in a startup. We quickly grew the team to 10 Programmers,2 QAs and 2 Designers. Kevin long, COO of justmeans moved to India to drive the Product development and Usability.Silicon Valley in Pune, India
The last step in creating a meaningful lasting partnership was to no longer have strategy dictated from the US or UK and implemented in India. For Justmeans to become a world class platform, strategy would have to be coming from every employee. Stock options, weekly training sessions, and a focus on building world class code all became part of the Justmeans reality in Pune, India. The justmeans Tech team is now called as “Justmeans, Pune office”Milestones:
